Another One Bites the Dust

Tim Panaccio is reporting on Hockey Buzz that Flyers defenseman Randy Jones is scheduled to miss at least six weeks after suffering a torn labrum in his hip which will require surgery.

This, after Ryan Parent is on pace to be on the sidelines at least four months after surgery on his right shoulder.

As of today, the Flyers defense looks like this:

Braydon Coburn
Steve Eminger
Lasse Kukkonen
Luca Sbisa
Kimmo Timmonen
Ossi Vaananen

Think it's time to suck it up and sign Bryan Berard?

I think our D will be a strength of the team come midseason. Here's how I anticipate it looking at that point:

Timonen - Coburn
Vaananen - Sbisa
Jones - Parent
Eminger/Alberts

If you ask me, that's not bad because they'll still have Kukkonen, Ratchuk, Bartulis, Syvret, etc. that could be fill in for injuries. Defensive injuries plagued us in the postseason last year and we often heard the mantra of "You need 12 defenseman to make it through the playoffs..." Well, now we've got them.

Now, if we only had that goaltending issue resolved...
